The eagle-eyed amongst you may have noticed a recent addition to our website. On each service page, you will now see an explanatory video as a result of members of the AccessU Team stepping well outside their comfort zone and in front of the camera to give insight into the work we do. Our intention in embracing video as a feature on the website it to provide human explanation and connection at a time when people fear that might be slipping away. Have a look and see what you think. Also this month, we are sharing our suggestions on what medicines you should consider having at home for the summer.

The fundamental service on which AccessU has been built is to provide the time and expertise of experienced, knowledgeable doctors quickly and at the convenience of the patient.
Though the desire for the efficiency and speed of service has remained consistent since we began, the reasons for consultations are constantly growing.
Whether patients are wanting to discuss existing conditions or something that has been bothering them, seeking diagnosis or referrals, or simply wanting reassurance or advice, the people we have seen have told us they were pleased to have found a ‘pay as you go’ service that gave the same access to a GP as Private Medical Insurance, but without the commitment and cost.
The AccessU Independent GP Service is available every day, Monday to Sunday, between 9am and 5pm, for just £50 by phone and £100 for an in-person appointment at our clinic, so if you or anyone you know is in need, do not hesitate to get in touch.
THIS MONTH’S TIP: Your Summer Medicine Cabinet
In the summer, especially during the school holidays, there is a big and most welcome change in our behaviour. From picnics and barbecues, to day trips and long walks, we spend more time outdoors and being active in the fresh air. To support this change in lifestyle, we have compiled a list of ten items we would recommend in your summer medicine cabinet:
- Sunscreen
Protect your skin from harmful UV rays with sunscreen with a level of at least SPF 30. Apply it 15 minutes before you go out, and be sure to reapply it every two hours. For children, babies and particularly pale skin, look for specific products with a higher SPF level of 50 or more. - After Sun
If your skin is overexposed to the sun, use a cream or gel with aloe vera to soothe any redness or sunburn. - Antiseptic Creams
Playing outside can lead to scrapes, grazes and cuts for which antiseptic cream is the perfect product to soothe, cleanse and heal the skin. - Waterproof Plasters
If a cut or graze needs to be temporarily covered for protection and to allow the healing process to begin, pop a plaster on top of the antiseptic cream. - Calamine Lotion
Apply to insect bites, poison ivy or even sunburn to soothe the skin and reduce itchiness. - Insect repellent
An easy to guard against bites from mosquitoes and ticks, especially if you’ll be walking in the woods or long grass. - Oral antihistamines
Whether taken regularly for Hay Fever, to reduce reaction to insect bug bites, or treat heat rash, an oral antihistamine is a very useful product to have on hand. - Pain relief
Whether paracetamol, aspirin or ibuprofen, it is useful to have pain relief in stock for both adults and children. - Eyedrops
Essential for Hay Fever sufferers, but useful to soothe and clear eyes that have been outside more than usual. - Indigestion tablets
Because who hasn’t overindulged at a summer barbecue?
